Our Evaluation Methodology
Trust is the cornerstone of luxury travel. At Private Jet Komodo, every recommendation we make—from the specific aircraft you fly on to the private guide who leads your Komodo dragon trek—is backed by a rigorous, transparent, and multi-faceted evaluation methodology. This process ensures that every partner in our network meets our exacting standards for safety, quality, and service. Our methodology is how we transform a promise of luxury into a guarantee of excellence. It is the framework that underpins the trust our clients place in us for their journeys to Komodo.
Part 1: Aircraft Operator & FBO Audits
The safety and quality of your flight are paramount. We do not operate aircraft ourselves; instead, we act as your expert agent, selecting the best-in-class operators for your specific mission. Our vetting process is continuous and uncompromising.
Operator Vetting Criteria (100-Point Scale)
- Safety & Certification (50 points): This is the most heavily weighted criterion. We require all operators to be fully certified by Indonesia’s DGCA. We then give preference and higher scores to operators who also hold independent, internationally recognized safety ratings such as ARGUS Gold/Platinum or Wyvern Wingman. We conduct a full review of their safety management system (SMS) and emergency response plan (ERP).
- Crew Experience & Training (20 points): We verify the credentials of all flight crews. Pilots-in-command must exceed minimum flight hour requirements (typically 5,000+ total hours, 500+ on type), and both pilots must undergo recurrent simulator training every six months. We assess their specific experience with challenging airfields like Komodo Airport (LBJ).
- Aircraft Condition & Maintenance (20 points): We review the maintenance history of each aircraft. We prioritize newer aircraft (typically under 10 years old) and those with modern avionics and pristine cabin interiors. Maintenance must be conducted strictly in accordance with manufacturer and DGCA schedules.
- In-Flight Service Quality (10 points): We evaluate the professionalism and training of the cabin crew, the quality and variety of catering options, and the availability of on-board amenities like high-speed Wi-Fi and entertainment systems.
FBO & Ground Handling Evaluation
A seamless experience on the ground is just as important as in the air. Our operations team conducts regular site visits to our key airports—including Halim Perdanakusuma (HLP) in Jakarta, Ngurah Rai (DPS) in Bali, and Komodo Airport (LBJ) itself—to audit our Fixed-Base Operator (FBO) and ground handling partners. We assess ramp safety procedures, passenger lounge quality, customs and immigration handling efficiency, and the professionalism of the ground staff.
Part 2: Experience Partner Vetting (Hotels, Yachts, Guides)
Once you arrive in Komodo, our quality assurance continues. Every partner, from luxury resorts to private guides, is selected through a meticulous vetting process.
Annual Site Inspections
Our senior team members conduct annual, often incognito, site inspections of all key partners, including luxury resorts like AYANA Komodo and Plataran, and leading liveaboards. We evaluate everything from the quality of the suites and the culinary offerings to the staff’s attentiveness and adherence to our sustainability standards.
Credential & Licensing Verification
- Guides: All our trekking and nature guides must be licensed by the Himpunan Pramuwisata Indonesia (HPI) and have specific certifications for guiding within Komodo National Park. We prioritize guides with academic backgrounds in biology or ecology.
- Yacht & Boat Captains: We verify that all captains and crew hold the necessary maritime certifications from the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation (Kementerian Perhubungan) and that each vessel has a current seaworthiness certificate (Surat Kelaiklautan Kapal).
- Vehicles: All ground transport vehicles undergo regular safety inspections, are equipped with GPS tracking, and are operated by professionally licensed drivers.
Sustainability & Community Impact Audit
A critical component of our methodology is assessing a partner’s commitment to our shared values. As detailed on our Sustainability page, we evaluate partners on their environmental policies (waste management, single-use plastic reduction), their local employment practices, and their contributions to community development and conservation. Partners who demonstrate a proactive commitment to sustainability are given preferential status in our network.
This comprehensive methodology ensures that every element of your journey with Private Jet Komodo is vetted, verified, and validated to the highest possible standard. It is our commitment to process that guarantees a product of unparalleled quality and reliability.
